Monday, first day of high school,
3:35 p.m.:
"Mom, the bus is really late and I don't feel good and I don't know what to do?"
"The bus isn't really late. It wasn't due at the school until 3:28. If it doesn't show up, walk up to Lorain Road (NOTE: Lorain Road is .6 mile from the school) and catch a 75X County Line."
"No, it was supposed to be here at 3:10 and its really late and I don't feel good . . . never mind, its here." Click.
4:12 p.m.:
"Hi, Mom, I'm home."
"So you made it okay. Yeah, but it was really late."
"No, we talked about this. The bus leaves St. Ignatius at 3:10 and arrives at St. Joe's at 3:28. You argued with me about this and I explained how to read the schedule yet again. However, if it doesn't show up, or you have an early release, all you have to do is walk up to Lorain Road. Remember?"
"Yeah, but I thought it was leaving at 3:10, so I ran out of school and didn't go to the bathroom (the real reason for the panic) and it was really late. I thought I would puke."
Tuesday, second day of high school:
7:30 a.m.
"Mom, the bus never showed up so Mrs. H is giving me a ride and you have to call the school to tell them I'll be late."
"If Mrs. H is giving you a ride, you won't be late. You could have taken any 75X and it would have dropped you off at the corner of Lorain and Rocky River. Remember, we talked about this. Your bus picks you up at 6:50. After that there is a 7:02 and 7:16 which would have taken you down there." DUH!
"Really?"
"We'll go over the bus schedule again, tonight. I have to go now, my eye is twitching."

And, this is a child that wants me to let her go to a "mixer" this Friday evening with a bunch of friends. She is also an honors student but has substantial lackings in the area of common sense.
