Secret Pal 8 Questions/Answers

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? I usually knit with wool. I just bought some silk that I want to make a shawl with. I have acrylics around but generally for the kids to use when they want to "knit too."

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? Right now all my DPN are in a rigid water bottle that has a screw on cap. It actually works rather well. My straights are bound together and in vase and my circs are hooked together too and in a baggy. I also have Denise's needles which I use a lot.

3. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? I learned how to knit when I was eight. Knit for several years at that time. Quit for many more years and started knitting again about four years ago. It has become a passion. I consider myself intermediate but could probably work my way through an advanced project and wouldn't back down if it was something I really wanted to do.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? No.

5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.) I'm allergic to most scents

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? Yes, I have a sweet tooth, boy do I have a sweet tooth. I love Heath bars and Bit-O-Honey.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? I don't spin. I do crochet. I also scrapbook and do stamping.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) I like classic and softrock. My stereo can play MP3s.

9. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand? I love greens and aquas. Although, right now I am doing a couple of projects using black and red.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? I am married (for 26 years). I have three children, two girls (20 and 12) and a boy (5). We have a cat but she is outside year round because of allergies and she hates being inside, so it works for all.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? I wear scarves, mittens and ponchos

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? Right now my passion is felted items.

13. What are you knitting right now? I am knitting a Noni large baguette bag for me and a Lucy bag for a neighbor.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts? Yes

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? I prefer circular needles. I have winged projects that are supposed to be on DPN onto circs. I prefer bamboo but use Denise alot but if I have a bamboo in the same size that isn't on a WIP, I will use the bamboo.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift? No. I hand wind my yarn.

17. How did you learn to knit? My grandma. Then my Mom gave me Elizabeth Zimmerman's Knitting Without Tears several years ago and I re-embraced that hobby.

18. How old is your oldest UFO? about 8 years.

19. What is your favorite holiday? Christmas

20. Is there anything that you collect? Waterglobes . . . I have only about ten but it is the only thing that could be considered a "collection." Oh, and I guess, Christmas ornaments, we have about 1,000.

21. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? I don't have any knitting subscriptions although I do belong to the Knitting Guild of America. I would like Vintage Knitted Socks. I got it from the library and would like to get it.

22. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn? Entrelac just escapes me. and socks, I am currently working on learning how to do a sock from the toe up.

23. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements? Am not, would like to be. 9-1/2" long; 10-1/2" around
