Friday - lots of things happening - snow and Ravelympics

I woke up this morning to snow.  Again.

Somewhere in this mess is my driveway.  Zachariah has a doctor's appointment at 10:15.  Lovely.

On the upside, it has stopped snowing, the plows have gone up and down the street (we are blessed . . . our street has a bridge over a major interstate so we get the city plows, the county plows and the state plows).  It has also been salted.  The only issue is getting OUT.

Here is what my backyard looks like.  There is a pool there, somewhere.

The pool is just to the left of the shed.  The garden is just to the right of the shed.

Also, the Olympics start tonight and I have been lining up those things that I am going to be doing for Ravelympics which also begins tonight.

I want to finish the BellaMittens first.  Here is a pic of the first one.  Note that the tips are missing from the cables.  BUT, you (and I) will happily note that I did tag the cables so that I know that I used a size 7 needle.

See the tag is right there.  The green thing is my row counter.  I am on the 79th row of this mitt and only have about 26 rows on this one and, oh yeah, the other one . . . I guess I should make two.

I am then going to make a hat.  The question is whether I will make Lindsey's hat (she wants a ear-flap hat).  I had made her a scarf last year and have enough yarn to make her a hat.  I had also promised another tobaggon hat to a friend's child.

Ravelry -- warning

Beware of Ravelry . . . it makes you focus on how much stash, needles, books and other such knitting STUFF you have.

You know, I have stuff "stashed" in a variety of places.

Under my desk at work. Well, it is is convenient as anything I have ordered online I have shipped to work. Ummm, not because I need to hide it but because there is no guarantee that anyone would be home to properly greet a shipment of knitting stuff.

Next to the chair in the family room. To be honest, this is where I keep most of my needles and other tools. There is a tidy little space next to MY chair. We have a tall cabinet and a short cabinet and a lamp (which is why this is my space). The short cabinet is a perfect place for any current books that I am reviewing from the library and my darling hubby doesn't generally look there when he is looking around for past due books. The space is perfect for my Option binder and my soft (cloth) binder in which I store my other tools. Plus, I can just drop any of my WIP which I generally store in plastic bags (usually gallon size), right down the side of the chair. A perfect place.

The master bath shower. Sounds weird, I know. The yarn is in bins, sorted by fiber and weight. We don't use this shower and haven't for years. I also use it as a extra closet exchanging summer for winter clothing and vice versa.

That area towards the back of the closet, next to the wall closest to my bed. This is the odd balls . . . seriously, a lot of acrylic stuff that I don't care about and really just need to clean and donate to someone, although I do think I have an afghan that I have mostly crocheted in there . . . .

Being my usual neurotic self when I travel I am always concerned that there will some horrid accident, and whomever is left to clean up my mess will not realize the VALUE of my stash. Hence prior to leaving on vacation a couple of weeks ago, I sent an email to my sisters with the note that in case of any horrific accidents during our vacation, they can fight over my stash. Of course, I didn't tell them where everything was hidden stored for safe keeping, I don't know whether they were praying for my demise or my safe return . . .

but we returned and my stash is safely in its place . . . but now, because of Ravelry, I am having to focus on what exactly I have.

Ravelry -- when will my invite come

According to EVERYONE, Ravelry is wonderful. So, I've been patiently sitting here (not my strong suit) waiting for my invite. Jane had told us how to check to see where we were on the list . . . it didn't help . . . how did ALL of those people get on the list before me . . . this is my status as of 7/24/07 @ 10:35 (EDT):

You signed up on June 5, 2007
You are #6969 on the list.
577 people are ahead of you in line.
12889 people are behind you in line.
32% of the list has been invited so far

But then again, look at all the people who are behind me. If you are interested in joining Ravelry, go here . . . then there will be even more people behind me!
